Installing Cable Lock™ Plus

Installing Cable Lock™ Plus is faster than you might think. Generally, the entire process from start to finish takes 1-3 days.

Step One: Site Preparation

Olshan crews will mark the areas where the pilings will be located and temporarily relocate any plants from the work area, unless this has already been done. In certain instances, some materials may be delivered a day or two before the scheduled start date.

Step Two: Excavation

At each predetermined piling location, we break through concrete or any other surface necessary and dig, by hand, access holes that are the size of a common doormat, three to four feet deep. Heavy plywood covers are placed over each hole as we complete this phase of the job. Unless your job requires interior pilings, no interior access will be required at this time.

Step Three: Driving the Piles

This phase requires access to (4 or 5) electrical outlets on separate circuits, so we will need access to the interior of the building. The "Driving" begins with the Spiral Lock Starter Segments being pressed into the ground at each predetermined location. Subsequent Cable Lock Spiral Cylinders (with cable through the center of each) are driven to the required depth and resistance.

Step Four: Locking the Pile

A piling cap is then positioned on top of the last piling segment and the cable is LOCKED into place. Concrete blocks are then placed between the piling cap and the bottom of the foundation beam. We are now ready to stabilize the structure.

Step Five: Raising the Slab

Jacks are placed on top of the pilings. An experienced Olshan professional then monitors the reaction of the structure while it is stabilized. When the process is complete, steel spacers are inserted between the slab and the concrete blocks to support the building.

Step Six: Cleaning Up

The top portion of the access holes is then refilled with soil and any surface concrete breakthroughs are patched. All plants are returned to their original locations in the yard, walks and drives are cleaned, and any excess materials are removed from the site. The entire process, from start to finish, usually takes from one to three days, excluding weekends and holidays.
